Chinook Divers
As many of you know I like to run the s-clip setup with my dipsy divers. But I haven’t been entirely happy with how this setup performed with the dipsy divers I was using. This past spring I decided to switch to Chinook Divers and I have to say I have been very happy with how well they have worked with the s-clip rigging.
One of the big advantages I have found in using the Chinook Divers with this setup is that there is a lot less resistance on the line from the divers. Which means more fighting the fish and less fighting your gear. I also like the fact that once you set the tension on the release it tends to stay set. Also no having to reset the position of the dive angle. Like the tension for the release once set, it stays set.

Chamberlain Release
Adding Chamberlain Releases to my boat has probably been my best find this season. I loved my Blacks releases but these are even better. With this release you have the ability to tune the tension from the rod to the release separately from the release to the lure.
The advantage of this is that you can really minimize the blow back in your line, which helps ensure a better hook set when a fish triggers the release. On top of that because you can set the tension from the release to the lure independently from the release to the rod, you can set the release to trigger on much lighter bites than you could on a blacks release.
If you haven’t tried these releases, I highly recommend you check them out. To order from Chamberlain Releases, click here.
RECON Fishing Systems
About mid-summer, I made a few upgrades to my boat and added Recon Fishing Systems single rod tube holders and adjustable triple rod trees. Hands down, adding the rod trees was a huge improvement on my boat, making it so much easier to deploy and manage my weighted lines. In addition, because the rod holders come with 12″ riser tube, you gain additional places to put rods when you need to get them out of the way while working lines on the boat.
Without question, this upgrade has made it easier to run lines that my previous setup. If you’re considering adding rod trees and rod holders to your boat check out Recon Fishing Systems by clicking here.
