This is the fifth video in an educational series from Russell’s Fishing Tech. called Anglers Avenue Class.  The focus of this video is on meat rigs.

Brands Mentioned:

Key takeaways:

Customizing your own meat rigs:

  • Number 1 VMC Spark Point Hooks (best on the market)
  • space teaser flies evenly
  • use tooth pick to lock bead/fly into position

Pairing with Flashers:

  • Cold water = 8″ flashers
  • Warm water = 11″+ flashers (fishing deep)
  • Prefer ballyhoo because its tougher and will last longer
  • Skin side of meat should be facing out
  • Set hooks so they are slightly trailing behind the meat
    • use tooth pick to lock leader/hook in place
  • standard leader lengths are 4 – 6′
    • Russell prefers 54″
